Sadly, all of the structures shown here have been replaced by what resembles a big, sterile high-rise office park. In 1965, city leaders approved a plan by architect and urban planner I.M.Pei that disastrously gutted the central city and demolished such notable landmarks as the venerable Biltmore Hotel.
